China Developing Technologies For Own Space Program
Beijing (XNA) Mar 05, 2010China's first lunar probe program had been delayed as the country had to wait for the belated arrival of an imported component, an official in charge of the country's moon probe mission said here Thursday. Hu Hao, deputy director of the moon probe project, made the remarks in an interview with Xinhua prior to the third session of the 11th National People's Congress (NPC), China's top legis ... more Deep Crater Exposes Hidden Ancient Moon
Greenbelt MD (SPX) Mar 05, 2010Shortly after the Moon formed, an asteroid smacked into its southern hemisphere and gouged out a truly enormous crater, the South Pole-Aitken basin, almost 1,500 miles across and more than five miles deep. NASA radar finds ice on moon's north poleWashington (AFP) March 1, 2010 A US radar that launched into space aboard an Indian spacecraft has detected craters filled with ice on the moon's north pole, NASA scientists said Monday. The US space agency's Mini-SAR radar found more than 40 small craters ranging in size from one to nine miles (1.6 to 15 kilometers), each full of water ice. "Although the total amount of ice depends on its thickness in each crater, it's estimated there could be at least 600 million metric tons of water ice," NASA said in a statement. The ... read more |
